Exporting in OBJ Format

The OBJ 3D format is broadly supported by many CG software suites. You can export models into this format in order to load the models as static props into most of these tools. After they are loaded, the meshes of it can then be re-edited to form a prop with an ideal shape.
The supporting status for OBJ format by the 3D tools can be seen in the following table:

Exporting Static Props in OBJ Format

  1. Import a model which contains mesh only (Please note that you may also import bone-skinned models, however in this pipeline, only the meshes of the model will be exported).
  2. Execute the File > Export to Other 3D Format > Export OBJ... command.
  3. In the Export OBJ panel, select the correct axis orientation as a reference for the target 3D tool that the exported static prop is going to be loaded in, and select a destination folder for your OBJ file. Please refer to the Exporting an OBJ File section for more information about the settings in this panel.
  4. Click the OK button to export the model.
  5. Import the OBJ file into your target 3D tool.
