Exporting OBJ Characters (New for v1.4)

Exporting the current character into an avatar file in OBJ format has special meanings. You can adjust the file in any other 3D-modeling tools and loaded it back as a target morphing character for creating custom morphing sliders. In addition, you do not need to export and import the OBJ file through iClone 3DXchange any longer.

  1. Prepare a character (optionally morph the character).
  2. Execute the File >> Export to Obj >> Nude Character command.

  3. Adjust the settings according to the axis coordinate system of your 3D-modeling tools.

    Note:

Choosing Full Body radio button to export the character including body, eyeballs and teeth; while the Body radio button to export only the body without eyeballs and teeth.

  4. Click the Export button to export two files, *.obj and *.ObjKey. The later one includes the DRM data for the *.obj file. DO KEEP these two files because you will need it when you load the modified OBJ Avatar back to iClone Character Creator as target morphing character.
  5. Modify the OBJ file with the external 3D-modeling tools.

    Note:

    • You are free to use any kind of 3D-modeling tools, such as 3ds Max, Maya or ZBrush.
    • DO NOT change the total number and structure of the vertex in the OBJ avatar by means of any features such as sub-division, slice, add/delete vertices... and so on.
  6. Save the OBJ avatar and use it as the target morphing character in iClone Character Creator.
