Merging Opacity to Diffuse Textures for Certain 3D Tools (New for V6.5)

Some 3D tools, such as HitFilm, do not support Opacity channel. Therefore, you need to first merge the Opacity and Diffuse textures into an image in PNG format with Alpha Information, before you can re-build a semi-transparent object in OBJ format in the 3D tools.

  1. Load an object with both Diffuse and Opacity textures into 3DXchange.
  2. In the Main menu, choose File/Export to Other 3D Format/Export OBJ....
  3. Activate the Merge Opacity to Diffuse Textures box.
  4. Click the OK button to export the object in OBJ format and PNG texture image with Alpha Information.
  5. Go to the 3D tool that does not support Opacity channel (in this case, HitFilm) and load the OBJ file.
