Reallusion Family and Unreal Pipeline (New for v1.2)

The Reallusion plug-in family that is related to the Unreal pipeline includes Auto Setup, Live Link and Control Rig. They play different roles in the pipeline as described in the following diagram.

  • Auto Setup:
    • In charge of the Shader Assignment (especially the digital human shaders), Epic Skeleton Mapping, Hair and Cloth Physics and LOD Deployment.
    • You must manually specify the Auto Setup modes (Standard, LW and HQ) when you import FBX characters from iClone or Character Creator to Unreal Engine.
    • When the character is transferred from Live Link, Auto Setup will be automatically involved in the procedure.
  • Live Link:
    • Transfers iClone characters, props, lights and cameras to Unreal Engine. Characters will be applied with Auto Setup to ensure the correctness of the materials and shaders.
    • The animations of the four categories (character, light, camera, prop) can be synchronizingly controlled from iClone.
  • Control Rig:
    • The facial expression and poses for the iClone or Character Creator characters imported into Unreal Engine can be further tweaked by the Control Rig plugin.
    • Layer keys effects can thus be practiced in Unreal Engine on top of the motions or expressions transferred from iClone via Live Link or imported motion clips.
