Using the Material panel to adjust texture maps
After importing a character model for the first time using CC Auto Setup in 3ds Max, the material settings will adopt the default settings. To edit your character appearance, utilize the Material panel.
- After importing the character into 3ds Max CC Auto Setup, select any part of the character and click the Material tab to see the material settings that are available for the selected part.

- To see the changes in real-time, go to Rendering > Render > Render Setup, and make sure "Arnold" is selected as the Renderer.

- Navigate to Standard > ActiveShade for real-time updates of material changes.

Note:ActiveShade rendering allows you to view real-time material changes, but it may cause lag due to continuous viewport updates and heavier demand on GPU resources.
- To edit different parts of the model's materials, select the part you want to edit. The Type section will show the model type, indicating that the selected part’s material is supported by CC Auto Setup.

Note:A selected part that isn’t compatible with CC Auto Setup will not display its name beside Type and the CC Auto Setup window will be grayed out.

- Use this panel to adjust the material map settings. For more details on each setting, see here.

Before and after adjusting the skin material settings.
Due to the render option in 3ds Max, the material changes won’t change on the character in real-time.
