Converting Spring Effects to Key-frame Animations
Spring physics are automatically generated along with the primary animation and there's not a way to intervene with the results while it's simulating. However, Cartoon Animator provides a sampling mechanism for converting spring dynamics into animation keys.
- Create an object with spring dynamics.
- Open the Timeline, click the Spring button to show the spring track.
- Right-click on the spring keys, and choose the Sample Spring Key command from the context menu.
- In primary Spring track: Right-click on the On or Off key for sampling.
- In individual Spring Group track: Right-click on the On key for sampling.
- In primary Spring track: Right-click on the On or Off key for sampling.
- As you can see the spring dynamic is converted into animation keys.
-
- In primary Spring track: All groups' keys are sampled. The sampled keys exceed the range of the spring on and off keys because the bouncing spring animations must be completely sampled.
- In individual Spring Group track: Only the selected group's key is sampled.

- You can then delete/move the keys or edit the sampled spring poses directly.
