Importing CTA Objects to Video Editors (New for v4.5)

After exporting desired objects from a CTA project, you can import them to a video editor with layer editing tools, such as Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or Hitfilm for special application. In the following examples, we will show how CTA objects can take advantage of video editors.

You can drag and drop the exported full-scene objects in a video editor to represent the original animation scene, and then enhance the visuals by adding special layer effects.

  1. Open the exported CTA Package and find the desired objects you wish to import. In this case, all the object videos as shown.
  2. Open HitFilm. Create a project with the same frame size as the CTA project in order to fit full-scene objects.
  3. Drag the exported objects in to create a new composition.
  4. As the transformation data (position, rotation, scale) is completely presented along with the objects, you only need to arrange the layer order to represent the same layer relationships as in CTA.
  5. Because these CTA objects are exported as transparent videos, you can composite them with other 3D media with ease.
ClosedApplying Blur Effect

You can apply blur effects to increase realism.

  1. Select the layer of the Spotlight. Click the Insert 2D Effect button on the Effects layer.
  2. Type in the keyword, Blur, in the Search field to find all related settings. Click the Blur under the Blurs folder.
  3. The effect will be added to the layer. Choose a blur preset, or manually adjust the values of radius, iterations, etc.

ClosedCorrecting Object Colors

Object colors can be changed for better composition.

  1. Select the layer of the Back character. Click the Insert 2D Effect button on the Effects layer.
  2. Click the Gamma under the Color Correction folder.
  3. Increase the value of Blue Gamma to illuminate the character with the color of the background media. Copy and paste the effect to other characters at the back. Correct the color of characters at the front in the same way.

ClosedAdding Grunge Effect

You can add special effect to the whole scene to make it more visual shocking.

  1. Drag the composition to the Editor panel.
  2. Double-click the Shake item in Effects panel to insert the effect in the Control panel.
  3. Adjust the values of amount, speed, smooth to adapt this effect to the animation.

You can drag and drop the exported object-size objects in a video editor to layer them in between 3D media.

  1. Open the exported CTA Package and find the desired objects you wish to import. In this case, the static images in the Single Image folder and the object videos in the Video folder as shown.
  2. Drag the exported objects and 3D medium to the media pool of DaVinci Resolve.
  3. Drag the 2D and 3D media to the Timeline in the desired order.
  4. Select the object track you wish to edit and then click the Inspector button.
  5. As these CTA objects are exported with the optimized bounding at their full size, you can freely set up their transformation keys, such as zoom and position, on different time frames in the Video tab.
ClosedAdding Special Effect

You can add special effect to an object layer to make it more visual shocking.

  1. Go to the Edit page and click the Effects Library button.
  2. Select the object layer you wish to add the effect, and then double-click on the Camera Shake effect.
  3. Click the Inspector button and adjust the motion scale, speed scale and motion blur in the Effects tab.

  2. Select the object layer you wish to add the effect, and then double-click on the Box Blur effect.
  3. Click the Inspector button, and set the horizontal and vertical strength keys on different time frames in the Effects tab.

Object colors can be changed for better composition.

  1. Go to the Color page and select the layer you wish to correct the color.
  2. Drag the curve to adjust the brightness and contrast under the Curves tab.
  3. Drag the controllers to change the color tone under the RGB Mixer tab.
