Sending Character to Sketchfab

Sketchfab is an online platform that lets you publish, share, and discover 3D content online and in VR with your browser. Using its universal 3D & VR player, user creations can be embedded on any web page and every major network including Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, LinkedIn, WordPress, BÄ“hance, DeviantArt, and Kickstarter.

Finding Sketchfab Token

  1. Sign up for an account on Sketchfab.
  2. Go to the Settings under account.
  3. In the My Settings page, click the Password & API item.
  4. Scroll down to find the API Token field. Copy the string.

Sending Characters to Sketchfab

  1. In Character Creator, create a custom character.
  2. Click the Upload to Sketchfab button on the toolbar.
  3. Adjust the settings in the coming panel.
    • Max Texture Size: Use this drop-down list to determine the size of every texture for the character. The resolution range is 256 x 256 to 2048 x 2048
    • Include Motion: Sketchfab allows the character to have motions in multiple tracks. You can add more motions tracks in this group.
      • Add Motion Tracks: Click this button and load a new motion file for being upload with the character.
      • Delete Motion Tracks: You can click the trash bin button to delete the corresponding track, or click the Clear All Tracks to delete all motions in the list at once.
      • Replace Motion Clip: Click the to load a new motion clip to replace the motion in the currently focused motion track.
      • Rename Track: Focusing on the name filed of the track can also rename the track. It will become an item in the motion menu after the character is sent to Sketchfab.
    • Info: Type in the desired name for this character in the Title field.
    • Account / API Token: Type in or paste the API Token you get from the Sketchfab web page as described in the previous section.
  4. Click the Upload button to start uploading the character to Sketchfab.
  5. Click the Yes button if you want to backup the uploading file in Zip format. Click the No button to skip this step.
  6. Character Creator will calculate the file size first before the uploading. Click the Continue button to start.
  7. When the uploading is done, you will be asked if you want to view the uploaded character online instantly.
  8. You are then able to view the character from the browser.
