Locking Hip Position

When you use the Motion LIVE plug-in to control the character, the transformations and motions of the virtual character are totally driven by the actor in the real world. However, the captured motions can not be exported for the use of game engine, such as Unreal or Unity, because the transformations in the engine are meant to be mapped to the keyboard instead.

  1. Use the Motion LIVE plug-in to capture motions for the character.

    As you can see the motion is offset from the original position of the character.
  2. Make sure the character is selected.
  3. Open the Motion LIVE plug-in panel and switch to the Body mode.
  4. Activate the Hip Position Lock box.
  5. Preview and record the motions captured from the mocap device.

    As you can see the motion will now be performed at a same position.
  6. You can then export this motion for game engines.
