Modifying the Texture of Body Parts
If you want to change the texture of any element in a sprite, then you need to enter the Composer mode.
For bitmap elements, you can use any external image editor.
If you want to modify the mask of an element, then please refer to the Editing the Background Mask section for more information.
Editing Textures of
Bitmap and Vector Elements for G3 Characters
If you want to use an external image editor to modify an bitmap element, then follow the steps below:

Pick a G3 character in the Stage mode. Click the Composer button to switch to the
Composer mode.

Select one of the body parts and then click the Sprite Editor button on the toolbar.
- Pick one of the sprites on the upper pane and select the target element in the lower pane.
- Click the Edit in Bitmap Editor or
Edit in Vector Editor (for vector elements only) button to transfer the element to the desired editor.

Edit the image or graphic and save.

The data will then be automatically transferred into Cartoon Animator. Click the Back to Stage
button to update the character in the Stage mode.Note:
- Both image and vector elements can be modified with an external editors. If the element is video or SWF, then these two buttons will be disabled.
Editing Textures of Bitmap Elements for G1 and G2 Characters
If you want to use an external image editor to modify a bitmap element, then follow the steps below:

Pick a G1 or G2 character in the Stage mode. Click the Composer button to switch to the
Composer mode.

Select one of the body parts and then click the Launch to External Image Editor button on the toolbar.
- Cartoon Animator will then launch your specified image editor
(e.g., Photoshop).

Modify the image and save.

The data will then be automatically transferred into Cartoon Animator. Click the Back to Stage
button to update the character in the Stage mode.Note:
- Only bitmap elements can be modified with an external image editor. If the element is video or SWF-based, then the Launch External Image Editor button will be disabled.
