Defining Light Rays with IES

IES stands for the Illuminating Engineering Society, which is a type of file, in *.ies format, for describing the distribution of light from a light source. You can apply the IES only to spotlights and point lights.

1. Create a new project.
   
2. Create a spotlight or a point light (in this case, spotlight); make sure the light is selected.
   
3. Open the Content Manager and switch to the IES content library under the Stage Elements category.
   
4. In the Modify panel, scroll to the IES section under the Attribute tab.
   
5. Drag and drop an IES template from the library to the channel in the IES section.
   
   The light rays will be instantly modified.
   
6. Modify the settings of the light to have the best result.
   
   
   Note:

   If you have installed the Iray plugin, then you can render the project with it, and the IES effect will be rendered more realistically.
