Utilizing Tone Mapping Settings

If you need to create different tone effects for the rendering results caused by simulating shooting photos with various cameras, then you may use the Tone Mapping settings provided in the iClone Indigo Render Plug-in setting panel. In addition, you can also use the feature to stylize your rendering results.

  1. Create a new project in iClone.
  2. Open the iClone Indigo Render Plug-in setting panel.
  3. In the Render Settings section, find the Tone Mapping group.
  4. Activate the Replace to Indigo in order to pass the Tone Mapping settings to Indigo.
  5. Determine the camera type for rendering the project by selecting one of the items in the Response Func. drop-down list (by default, it is dscs315).
  6. Click the Render Scene button to preview the result.
  7. In Indigo, go to the Render Setting panel, pick the Imaging item from the drop-down list.
  8. Change to different Cameras by selecting from the Response Func. drop-down list until you are satisfied with the results.
  9. Fine tune the rendering image in Indigo trough the settings below:
  10. Type down the values of the two settings and set the same values to the corresponding parameters in the iClone Indigo Render Plug-in >> Render Settings >> Tone Mapping.
  11. Render the project again in Indigo if you wish to generate sequential images.

    Note:

    • If you only need to render one image, then set the Film iso and EV values and then export the image in Indigo after Step 10.
    • However, if you need to export sequential images, then you need to set the values in the iClone Indigo Render Plug-in panel to ensure that the settings are applied to each frame (Step 11).
