Editing Image for IBL
Editing with External Image Editor
The illustration below is a scene in which all the lights are out.
- Click the Launch button to invoke the external image editor.

Modify the image. If you are a beginner, it is recommended to set the image black
first.

Save the image and switch back to iClone.

Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you are satisfied with the result.
Note:
- Blur the source image to eliminate sharp edges for best results.
- Since IBL does not cause any shadows. Please use directional light or spotlight to create shadows.
- You may set Transform keys for the IBL sphere to adjust the location, angle and size of the light source.
Editing with Color Adjustment Panel
By modifying the color settings of the IBL image with the Color Adjustment panel, you may quickly change the tone of the scene.

Apply an IBL image. (you may use custom image or apply from the template library)

Click the Adjust Color button under the IBL image to open the Color Adjustment panel.

Drag the sliders in the panel to change the entire tone of the image.Note:
Please note that if the IBL image is in HDR or EXR formats, then the adjustable sliders will be limited as shown in the illustration above.

Adjust the parameters in the Color Level and Color Balance sections.
Editing with Softness Parameter
The image applied for IBL may be too sharp, especially when you are using HDR or EXR imagse, which can cause the IBL look like it is projecting textures onto objects. iClone provides a softness feature to help you blur the image to generate a proper IBL effect.
The illustration below is a project without any lighting sources.
The images in the left cell of the table below is the same project applied with IBL image in HDR format while the right one is the result when the Softness of the image is increased.
