Basic Concept of Smart Hair Shader

The Smart Hair shader is basically composed of four different aspects:

  • Base (Vertex) Color: Each vertice on the hair mesh can be assigned with a vertex color, and the color can be used to differentiate mesh layers of a hair model.
  • Strand (Root-End): This concept revolves around the Root map, which is used to define the gradient color from the hair root to the tip.
  • Highlight: Uses the ID map, which defines coloring for each piece or strand of hair.
  • Reflection: Uses the Flow map and ID map to define the reflection and specularity of the hair.
