Controlling Input Strength (New for v1.1)
In order to maintain a reasonable hand gesture during the motion capture, sometimes you'll need to accentuate or diminish the mocap data to make good connection with the scene objects that surround the character.
The Motion LIVE 2D plug-in provides the Strength sliders to fulfill this need. The benefits are:
- Control the signal input strength from actor's hand movement direction, wrist rotation and fingers rotation.
- Easily capture characters with the proper strength settings when toning down or exaggerating animated features.
- Save the settings for characters of specific scenarios in a custom profile.
- The strength sliders are available depending on the Control Mode of different tracking range.

- If you receive hand mocap data via Perception Neuron Gloves, you can control the input strength of wrist rotation and fingers rotation only.
There are five Strength sliders for you to control the input hand movement strength from different directions and the input wrist and finger rotation strength.
Adjust the Hands Move Left / Right slider to determine the input hand motion strength in the X axis direction. This slider is useful to observe the hand movements of a front facing character.
|
Adjust the Hands Move Front / Back slider to determine the input hand motion strength in the Z axis direction. This slider is useful to observe the hand movements of a side facing character.
|
Adjust the Hands Move Front / Back slider to determine the input hand motion strength in the Y axis direction.

In this case, a character with a bottle attached on its right hand.
-
Click the Motion LIVE 2D button on the Add-on Toolbar.
Alternatively, go to Plugins >> Motion LIVE 2D >> Motion LIVE 2D.
-
Select Uppder Arm IK from the Control Mode drop-down list to capture hand motions from the upper arms to the fingers.
- Assign the Right Facing Hands Profile for the side facing character,
and then choose Active Stand from the Posture Presets to predefine an initial hand pose.
- Click the Set Zero Pose button to complete the calibration process.
- Click the Preview button, and press the Space Bar to preview the hand motions.
You may find that the arms bend back excessively,
and the bottle keeps tilting along with the wrist rotation.
- Switch to the Strength tab,
drag the Hands Move Front / Back slider to the left to lower the hand strength of back and forth movements.
- Directly type "0" for the Hands Rotation slider to remove the influence of forearm IK rotation on the bottle attached on the right hand.
- Now you will see a more relaxed hand movements and the character can hold the bottle steady with its right hand.
Before adjusting the strength, you can see excessive hand motions and the bottle tilts down with the wrist rotation.
After adjusting the strength, you can see relaxed hand motions and the bottle can stay straight.
