Physically Based Rendering - PBR

The Physically Based Rendering (PBR) feature renders object appearances of materials as in the real world. It increases the quality of textures and simulate the actual material by using simple textures instead of complicated settings and parameters, which is best suited for you to create realistic materials, especially the metal and bump ones on the surfaces.

The PBR of the materials in Character Creator is mainly defined by Albedo, Metalness and Roughness textures.

  • Albedo: The colored texture of surface's color without reflectivity, light and shadow effects. It is the result of blending the Base Color, Blend textures and Diffuse Colors of the materials in Character Creator.
  • Metallic: It is a black-and-white texture to define the surfaces as insulate or metallic. In Character Creator, it replaces the slot of Specular Channel.
  • Roughness: It is also a black-and-white texture to define the microsurfaces. On the other hand, the polished level of the surfaces. In Character Creator, it replaces the slot of Reflection.

The combinations of the Metallic and Roughness can thus depict almost every material in the real world.
