PSD In / Out Limitations
Although Cartoon Animator can work with all major PSD tools for asset creation, it's highly recommended that you use a fully PSD compatible image editor for complete compatibility with Cartoon Animator. Cartoon Animator can also export to an image editor with the PSD launch feature.
The sub-groups and the beneath image layers can then be converted into Sprites and create binding relationship with Pivot or Bone layers for props or characters.
Image groups which make up the Sprites for props or characters should be able to import into the Bitmap Editor completely when performing the PSD launch feature.
Image groups (with or without image layers beneath the group) which make up the Sprites for props or characters should be able to export to Cartoon Animator.
Image layers can be renamed in order to match the name of Sprite image groups in a binding relationship.
An identical name can ensure a binding relationship between the Pivot and Image layers for props, or a binding relationship between the Bone and Image layers for characters.
After you export G3 characters or Props to your image editor in PSD format, you can then freely adjust the PSD document at will. However, when you want to save the adjusted PSD document, you need to notice the limitations before doing so because their is a high chance that the features provided by your image editor are not supported by Cartoon Animator. The lists below are the features supported or unsupported (taking Photoshop as an example):
- Only RBG Image Mode is supported, do not convert the document to any other mode.
- Layer mask effects are supported.
- Smart Object is supported.
Although these features will be ignored when Cartoon Animator auto updates the object in it, you can always Merge or Rasterize the image layer in your image editor in order for the results to be merged into the layer.
- All layer styles are not supported.
- The mask for Sprite Group or any sub-group is not supported.
. - The clipping mask method is not supported.
- The Fill or Adjustment Layer feature is not supported.
