The structure of basic Lens Flare effect

The structure of a basic lens flare effect is as described in the following illustration. The lens flare effect is actually composed of several animatable image layers on a line formed by the gizmo.

Default Lens Flare

Directional Lens Flare

  • Gizmo: The gizmo's position in 3D space will be projected to the screen as the start point for forming a leading line. You can move it elsewhere in the 3D environment or align, attach it to a specific object and perform actions to it as you do to a prop.
  • Flare Layers: These are image layers with different types. They are also billboards permanently facing the camera. You can globally adjust the layers; apart from that, add, delete and edit individual layers to get ideal result.
  • Anchor (End Point): The anchor, unlike the start point gizmo, can only be moved on the screen plane and taken as the end of the lens flare direction. You only need to drag and drop it to determine the leading line.
  • Decay Range (right illustration only): This type of lens flare is directional, and is only visible within the cone.
